V-REFLEXTM Reflective Material - Reflective Fabric RF-FRIW5085100-ARA is designed for use on flame resistant safety garments requiring industrial laundry. 

 

When properly used, V-REFLEXTM Reflective Material - Reflective Fabric RF-FRIW5085100-ARA helps enhance the visibility of the wearer in nighttime or low-light conditions when illuminated by a light source such as headlights, by returning the light back toward the original source and reaching the automobile driver’s eye. 

 

V-REFLEXTM Reflective Material - Reflective Fabric RF-FRIW5085100-ARA is composed of wide angle, exposed retro-reflective lenses bonded to a flame resistant, durable aramid fiber backing. Aramid is a class of heat resistant and very strong synthetic fabric.

What is Aramid Fiber

Aramid fibers are man-made high-performance fibers, with molecules that are characterized by relatively rigid polymer chains. These molecules are linked by strong hydrogen bonds that transfer mechanical stress very efficiently, making it possible to use chains of relatively low molecular weight.

The term “aramid” is short for “aromatic polyamide”. Aromatic polyamides were first applied commercially as meta-aramid fibers in the early 1960s, with para-aramid fibers being developed in the 1960s and 1970s.

Aramid fibers share some general characteristics that distinguish them from other synthetic fibers:

  1. High strength
  2. Good resistance to abrasion
  3. Good resistance to organic solvents
  4. Non-conductive
  5. No melting point
  6. Low flammability
  7. Good fabric integrity at elevated temperatures

Retro-reflective Performance

 

The coefficient of retro-reflection (RA in cd/lux/m2) is measured by methods traceable to either of the following retro-reflective intensity testing procedures : 

 

ASTM E809-08 and E810-03 (RA)

CIE 54.2:2001 (R’)

 

The coefficient of retro-reflection exceed the minimum retro-reflectivity requirements in according to EN 471 and ANSI 107 level 2 as table.

Industrial Wash Guidelines

 

Industrial laundry means regularly washing large amounts of clothing in a relatively short amount of time, with large machines(>25 kg loads),aggressive detergent chemistry(pH 10.5-12), and high wash temperatures (up to 85oC, 185oF). Garment finishing (tumble dry or tunnel finish) can limit garment life and should be considered as part of the cleaning process. Using harsher cleaning condition than those recommended may significantly reduce product performance.

 

Below information should be well noted to industrial laundry operators

Washing

 

Wash chemistry : Do not use detergents that contain free sodium hydroxide or potassium hydroxide.

 

Maximum wash temperature : 75 oC (165 oF)

 

Break/suds cycles : less than 15 minutes total

Drying

 

Tunnel dry : Maximum inlet temperature 120 oC (250 oF)

Tumble dry : Maximum exhaust temperature 90 oC (195 oF)

 

 

Pressing

 

Do not exceed 150 oC (300 oF)

 

Special Instructions: 

Stain treatment wash processing may reduce life of V-REFLEXTM Reflective Material

 

Wash chemistry :

 

Lower pH (more towards neutral) and lower active alkalinity will increase the lifetime performance of the retro-reflective material. Actual lifetime will be dependent upon the detergent system and dosage level.

 

Do not use solvenated surfactants.

 

Do not use chlorine or perborate bleach

 

V-REFLEXTM Reflective Material - Reflective Fabrics may be suitable to both home wash and industrial wash. Dry cleaning may be used for certain products. If bleach is needed, only non-chlorine bleach should be used. High alkaline treatments such as stain removal products should be used.
